SUN Bucks Application

Online and paper applications are accepted year-round; applications for SUN Bucks 2026 will be processed starting May 2026 and end August 31, 2026. Applications submitted after that date will be considered for Virginia SUN Bucks 2027.

Income Limits

Virginia SUN Bucks has income limits based on household size.

  • If your household income is at or below the limit, you may be eligible.
    Apply for Virginia SUN Bucks.
  • If your household income is above the limit, you are likely not eligible.

What Happens After You Apply

After you submit your application:

  • Some households may be asked to provide proof of information listed on the application
  • VDSS will review applications starting May 2026
  • Benefits will be issued on a rolling basis beginning June 2026

Once benefits are issued, cards usually arrive within 7–10 days.

How Will I Get My Benefits?

Household Receives SNAP Household Does Not Receive SNAP
  • SUN Bucks will be added to your existing EBT card
  • Check your card balance for the deposit
  • Benefits will be loaded onto a new SUN Bucks card
  • The card will be mailed to the address on file with your school or application
