La Junta Estatal de Servicios Sociales es una junta de políticas cuyos miembros son designados por el gobernador de Virginia. La junta incluye a un representante de cada una de las cinco regiones de Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS), además de un profesional sanitario.
Según la ley de Virginia ( Título 63.2, Capítulo 2, Artículo 2 ), the board adopts regulations needed to carry out social services programs and activities. This includes oversight of key assistance programs, like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The board also regulates child welfare programs, including Child Protective Services (CPS), foster care and adoption, along with licensing for assisted living facilities and adult day centers. Child support enforcement is also under the board’s authority.
Through this work, the board supports the mission of the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS): designing and delivering high-quality human services that help Virginians achieve safety, independence and overall well-being.
